Description:

Feast of the five-petaled rose
In 2006, for the 20th time, residents and guests of Český Krumlov will celebrate the wonderful Festival of the Five-petaled Rose - an amazing, bright, noisy and colorful medieval carnival.

Český Krumlov is a city in Southern Bohemia. Here is the historical estate of the Rozhmberki family. It includes several castle buildings, a famous carnival hall, a unique Baroque theater, a castle park with a Rococo fountain and a summer Bellari Palace with a revolving auditorium (www.jihoceskedivadlo.cz) - the venue for seasonal theater performances.

It hosts the International Music Festival “Czech Krumlov”, the festival of ancient music and the “Feast of the five-petaled rose”. This holiday has been preserved from the Middle Ages to the present day. It is held every year in June, in the mesmerizing atmosphere of the Middle Ages and romance inherent in Chesky Krumlov, in the center of the city on the Square of Craft. This year it will begin on June 17.

The five-petal rose festival is dedicated to the reign of the last owners of the castle and is named after the rose, which is part of the Rosemberg coat of arms. Guests and participants of the festival are transferred to another era. Citizens and visitors, dressed in luxurious costumes - knights in armor, merchants, monks ... They go about their business, walk, trade, shop.

After the solemn opening of the holiday in the central square begins a colorful procession around the city with flags, fanfare, drums and torches. The medieval fair sells everything from bread baked according to ancient recipes to a complete set of weapons for a knight of any age. Here you can see live chess, a knightly tournament, demonstration shooting of musketeers, the opportunity to learn how to handle ancient weapons - all this is only part of what awaits you these days of a beautiful holiday.
