Capuchin monastery

The Capuchin Monastery has long been one of the main attractions of the city of Brno. Travelers and historians from all over the world come here to see the legendary “Crypt of Mummies” – the burial of monks of the Capuchin Order.

According to legend, families of aristocrats and ruling diasporas often bribed the abbots of the monastery to be buried in the crypt. It was easier to get to heaven.

After World War II, zoological, botanical and archaeological expositions were placed on the territory of the Capuchin Monastery. After some time, the monastery regained its original meaning, the cultural center could not exist on the territory of ancient burial sites.
