St. Peter and Paul Cathedral

Petrov 9, 602 00 Brno, Czech Republic

Description:

The Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul - the cathedral of the diocese of Brno - is a national monument of the Czech Republic. The monastery, built at the turn of the XIII and XIV centuries in the Romanesque style, took the place of an ancient fortress, on which a small church was previously located.

In connection with the attack on the city of Swedish troops, the cathedral needed reconstruction. Today we owe much to the bold project of the Austrian architect, connoisseur of new Gothic, August Kirstein. Two towers, whose height is 81 meters, serve as observation decks. From there you can admire not only the magnificent views of the city, medieval and completely new buildings, but also the plain on which the Battle of Austerlitz took place.
