Old Town Hall

Zelný trh 294/9, 60200 Brno, Czech Republic

Description:

In the twentieth century, the city council left the Old Town Hall in Brno, and now at the entrance to the once central government building you will be greeted by locals in traditional medieval costumes.

Their main activity is the minting of Brno pennies - coins of silver, aluminum, brass and bronze. Not only outfits will help travelers transport to the Middle Ages. Like any self-respecting old building, the Old Town Hall has several legends in the piggy bank. The stuffed crocodile that adorns the town hall arch today was made of a reptile – a gift from a Moravian margrave. However, legend says that the city was threatened for a long time by a cruel dragon who kept everyone from small to great in fear. A brave butcher's apprentice saved the residents from the threat. It is the stuffed dragon that has guarded Brno ever since.
