Description:
The Bee Palace was built by local German businessmen in 1864 and bears the name of their company. The palace is a corner building on Přemyšl Otakar II Square, the central square in the historical center of the city of České Budejovice. The construction of the building was preceded by an architectural competition, which was won by the Viennese architect Petr Brang.
The beautiful four-storey palace was built in the spirit of the German Neo-Renaissance. The facade of the house is decorated with arched window openings, columns, sculptures and bas-reliefs, including a bee and honeycombs. There is a statue of a knight on the roof. The palace was the first multipurpose building in the modern sense, it housed not only apartments, but also offices and shops.
