Capuchin monastery
Kně ská 411/6, Č esk Budě jovice
Description:
The Capuchin Monastery was built in the spirit of Franciscan architecture between 1615-1621 in Cesk Budejovice by decree of Empress Anna Tyrol. The monastery complex consisted of several buildings, the main of which was the Church of St. Anne, which is a simple building with two chapels on the north side. The Order of the Capuchins came under state reform, because of which in 1788 the monastery was closed.
At the beginning of the XIX century, a theological seminary was opened in the monastery, and liturgies were resumed in the walls of the Church of St. Anna. After World War II, religious activity was finally over. In the church opened the concert hall of the South Czech Chamber Philharmonic, and in other rooms of the gallery.
