Town Hall
Ná m Dr. E. Bene&scaron e 1, Star Mě sto, Liberec
Description:
The town hall is the hallmark of the city of Liberec. This magnificent Renaissance building was built at the end of the XIX century by the design of the Viennese architect F. Neumann. In the XIX century, the city had a reputation as an industrial center of the Austrian-Hungarian monarchy, so the building of the town hall reflected the wealth and prosperity of the city.
The town hall, similar to a cathedral or a fabulous palace, was built for administrative purposes, it still houses the municipality. Its average tower is 65 meters high and a knight statue adorns its top. During the communist regime, a five-pointed star was installed instead of a knight, but after the revolution everything returned as before.
