Friedlant Castle Museum is considered one of the oldest castle-museums in Central Europe. Its construction began in the middle of the XIII century, and only four centuries later, it reached its peak. The owner of the castle at that time was Albrecht Waldstein - Generalissimo of the Austrian Army. During the Thirty Years’ War, the Friedland Manor not only grew richer, but also provided for the needs of the Waldstein Army. It was during this period that the estate was given the name Terra felix, which means Happy Land. After the death of Albrecht Waldstein, the estate passed to a prominent noble family of Clam-Gallas, who opened in 1801 to visit part of the castle with collections, thereby creating the oldest castle museum in Central Europe. In 1945, Friedlant became the property of the Czech state.

Today in the collections of the castle-museum, in addition to preserved in excellent condition walls, furniture, you can see Renaissance porcelain, glass, an extensive collection of weapons. Also interesting is an art gallery with works by Baroque artists or a unique collection of smoking pipes.
