Kokorzhin Castle

The medieval castle of Kokorzhin is located 60 kilometers north of Prague and 10 kilometers from the town of Melnik on a sandy hill in the valley of the Psovka stream. The fortress was built in 1320 in the Gothic style with Baroque elements.

In the XV century it was conquered and destroyed by Hussite troops for several decades. There were local robbers hiding here. In this regard, the history of the castle served as a plot for adventurous and romantic novels of Czech writers, as well as the appearance of the fortress inspired artists whose canvases captured the power of the fortress and the beauty of the surrounding impenetrable forest. On the territory of the castle there is a cylindrical observation tower, whose height is 38 meters.
