The Monastery of the Assumption of the Most Holy Mother of God

The Monastery of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin is located in the town of Vilemov, which is located in the Czech Republic. Over the years of its existence, this convent has become one of the main centers of Orthodoxy in the traditionally Catholic Czech Republic. Located in a quiet area, the monastery became a place of solitude for a small Orthodox community.

With its architecture, the complex of monastic buildings unites the traditions of religious architecture of various countries of Eastern Europe. The ascetic design and whiteness of the walls give the buildings of the monastery lightness and sublimity, and the tiled dome of the bell tower has centuries-old patriarchal traditions. The basis of the interior decoration is a richly decorated wooden altar, and part of the windows are decorated with stained glass.

On holidays, the monastery is visited by numerous pilgrims who come to the monastery from different parts of the Czech Republic. This place is also popular with tourists interested in the history of Czech Orthodoxy.
