Museum of Modern Art

The Museum of Modern Art is located in a large old house, similar to a castle, on the Republic Square in the city of Olomouc. Initially, in the XIV century, a church and a shelter for the infirm were built on this place. In the first half of the XIX century, the building was destroyed and a new one was built in the classical style, where the prison was located.

In 1989, the building was purchased for the Museum of Arts, which presents fine examples of national and world culture, applied and fine arts of the XX and XXI centuries. For example, the works of the Czech artist Iosif Lada are exhibited here, as well as Victor Vazarelli, who used optical illusions in his works.

Halls with a huge number of sculptures, paintings, sketches and other masterpieces will not leave indifferent. In addition, the museum organizes seminars, classes for children and other events related to contemporary art.
