Description:

The Black Tower is a dominant historical landmark in Klatov, which is located on the main city square. The tower was built in 1547 by an Italian architect not only for defensive purposes, but also as a proof of the city’s wealth.

The stone tower with a height of 81 meters has 6 floors and a copper roof with five Gothic towers. Since 1853, a huge bell was installed in it, the facade was decorated with a clock, the size of which reaches two meters in diameter. Due to several fires, the building acquired a dark color, and at the same time the name Black Tower.
