Description:
Czervene Porjici Castle is a unique example of a building in the style of the Saxon Renaissance. The castle was built in 1611 on the site of an ancient fortress near the Ukhlava River and is located in the village of Shvikhov, 30 km from the city of Pilsen. In its name it has the word “red” due to the fact that the roof of the building is covered with red tiles.
In the XIX century it belonged to the imperial family, now it is in state ownership. Since 2010, the site has been a national cultural monument. The castle is under reconstruction, so it opens its doors to tourists only on some days.
On the territory of the castle, fenced by an ancient stone wall, there is a chapel, a cozy park adjoins the building.
