Radine Castle

Starý Plzenec, Plzeň sky kraj

Description:

Radine Castle is the ruins of a royal medieval city located in the vicinity of the city of Pilsen on the top of the Radine hill (567 meters above sea level) near the Uslava River. The fortress was built in the middle of the XIV century and was a massive rectangular palace and two towers. The castle was founded by Charles IV and at that time was called Karlskrone. At the beginning of the XVI century the city was destroyed by fire and was abandoned.

The fortress is gradually being reconstructed. On the first floor of the Radynsky Tower there is a permanent historical museum exhibition, and on its upper terrace there is a magnificent view of the surrounding hills and forests.
