Dr. Hostashe Museum

The Museum of Doctor Hostashe tells about the history of the city of Klatov. It was founded in the first half of the XIX century, when the local administration bought from a collector antiques associated with the history of the city. The original collection of manuscripts, books, paintings, sculptures, weapons, fabrics, ceramics, city regulations, hymns, legal documents became the basis for the creation of the museum.

The museum bears the name of Dr. Hostashe Charles (1854-1934), who was a lawyer, archaeologist, historian and honorary citizen of Klatova. He was the first administrator of the museum.

The museum building was built in the Art Nouveau style in the XX century specifically for the museum exposition. On the ground floor there is a permanent exhibition dedicated to the history of the city of Klatovy, and on the second floor there are temporary exhibitions, which are updated and changed over time.
