Charles Bridge from all sides

Charles Bridge is, along with Prague Castle and Orloi, a symbol of Prague. Many sightseeing tours across the bridge pass, and guides say that “it was built on the orders of King Charles”, as the name tells us, and that the date of foundation was magical, and on the bridge you can make a wish.

The only bridge in Prague?

Fortunately, that is not the case now. But that was until the early twentieth century. And it was not only pedestrian, but also transport. And so for centuries.

As I said, Charles Bridge, which for several centuries was the only bridge in Prague, has a lot of legends and facts that require detailed discussion. The tour is built so that all visitors, both adults and children, really feel the importance of this building. We will see the Charles Bridge from all sides:

Step by step

The first part of the tour will pass along the bridge, during which you will learn legends and documentary information, as well as we will get acquainted with the most interesting statues that are decorated with Charles Bridge. In one of the sculptures, everyone must make a wish. After that, we will climb to the tower of the bridge, which offers a beautiful view not only of the Charles Bridge itself, from above, but also of the Prague embankments.

Museum of Charles Bridge

Next, we will visit the Museum of Charles Bridge, where you will have a unique opportunity to see fragments of the first stone bridge in Prague, which was on the site of the current Charles Bridge, but was destroyed by medieval flooding.

After visiting the museum, we will take a boat trip, during which we will look at the Charles Bridge from below.

You will find out if there is water in the river and whether it has a good character or an evil one. We will also answer the question why Charles Bridge was built not only across the Vltava River, but also across the Chertovka River, and why it bears such a name.
