Prague

Mysticism of Prague through the green prism of absinthe

Description:

Guests of our city often face unexplained phenomena. This usually happens in the dark. Sometimes, walking through completely empty narrow streets, you can hear incomprehensible deep sighs near you, someone sneezing and coughing. It happens that the doors of old houses themselves with a gnashing open and from the black abyss someone’s eyes are staring at you. And in the dark corners of no-no-no and fly in front of you vague foggy clot. Some saw a white shadow, like a girl figure in a white dress, which dissolved into a brick wall. Some of this shadow beckoned after itself, then disappearing “into nowhere” in the dark corner, from where the one who came could not find a way out. Of course, the missing tourists, carried away by the White Lady, were later found. Mostly with the help of the police. So, such cases became more and more, which aroused the keen interest of the “higher authority”. All the documentation was redirected there, and the “case” of the White Lady began to be dealt with. The result is that Prague scientists) have found that these phenomena with tourists occur only after visiting absinthe bars. The fact is that in our country it is allowed to drink and sell absinthe, despite its hallucinogenic properties.

Absinthe is an alcoholic drink, the strength of which is 70 degrees, usually bright green color and a sweet bitter taste. It is bitter and green because the main component is wormwood, which contains oh how much thujone - a substance that causes hallucinations.

Absinthe is never drunk for nothing. It's a ritual. Usually a little water is poured into the glass, a leaky spoon is put on the glass, a piece of sugar is placed on it, which is poured abundantly with absinthe. And the sugar will burn. The burning “torch” is thrown into a glass, the color of the contents changes from emerald green to cloudy white. It's fun. After the second glass, the Green Fairy comes (sometimes without outerwear) and sits down at your table (see photo in the tour avatar). For some, drinking absinthe can cause unstoppable laughter, a state of universal joy, someone loses a sense of reality, and some fall into deep thoughtfulness about the fate of humanity. And most importantly, there may be hallucinations! Therefore, a meeting with a beheaded knight in the narrow streets of old Prague, and with the White Lady, and black eyes in a black alley, and the ghost of a girl once walled up in the walls of Clementinum is guaranteed.

But don't be afraid! I will try to protect you from the invasion of fairy tale heroes, I will stand behind you with a mountain, so to speak. I will reveal all the secrets of absinthe, tell its history and clarify the names of celebrities who under its influence “created”. And as a bonus, getting drunk bodies to the hotel.
