Moravian Kras

Description:

Descend to the bowels of the Land of Moravian Beauty

The most extensive and beautiful karst area in Central Europe is the Moravian Kras and it is a place where visitors are breathtaking. Punk caves are the most popular Moravian karst caves. They gained their popularity due to the fact that visitors can descend to the bottom of the Matsoch abyss (depth - 138 m) and at the same time take a romantic boat tour along the underground Punkwe River. The underground caves of the Moravian Karst are visited by hundreds of thousands of visitors a year.

Inspection of punk caves begins with an inspection of the Fore Cathedral, the entrance of which guards the largest stalactite of the cave - the Sentry. A corridor in the form of a siphon leads to the clay halls bordering the Middle Cathedral, at the ceiling of which there is an impregnable Crystal Corridor. Behind the Stalagmite Corridor we will go to the Back Cathedral, from where we will get to the bottom of Matsoha and where the Dry Road ends. Admire the fascinating view of the bottom of the abyss and the Upper and Lower Lakes, which feeds the Punkwa River.

After that, we will move to the Wet Road - a boat tour of the underground Punkwe River. Punk water cathedrals between the bottom of Matsoha and the Empty trough are the result of a powerful current of water, which thus sought the way up. The ceilings and walls of the corridors are woven with cavities, vortex pits, grooves. By boat, we will sail through the First, Second and Third Lakes to the most beautiful cave of karst - to the Fairytale (Masaryk) Cathedral. The fabulous cathedral together with an unforgettable excursion through the water labyrinths is the top of the local underground beauty. Powerful stalagmites, stalactites and stalagnates, cascades in the Brchkov corridor alternate with other formations of different forms.

After a fabulous journey, along the underground river, we will use the services of a cable car and get to the observation bridge on the cliff at the abyss, which will open a fascinating view of the abyss of Matsokh. Nearby is a cozy restaurant, with a large terrace, where we can drink a cup of hot coffee, or a mug of cool beer.

On an ecological paratroop we will go to the Katerzhinskaya cave, known for its stalactites and stalagmites. Its main cathedral, the largest in the Moravian Krasus, and at the same time the largest, publicly accessible underground cathedral in the Czech Republic. It is so big that it hosts classical music concerts. Then begins the Bamboo Forest - a cluster of large stalagmites and other interesting stalactite formations that resemble sheep, a waterfall and much more. This will be followed by several rooms with indistinct rock paintings of nature. In the last of the halls is the famous stalagmite sculpture, which has a number of names - Witch, Witch, Sorcerer. By the way, it is also a symbol of the Katerzhinskaya cave and in souvenir shops you can buy magnets with its image.

At the end of the tour, at the Rock Mill, we can dine in one of the restaurants and with a full stomach and a lot of impressions, head towards Prague.
