Prague and the Knights Templar
Description:
We invite you to tour the mysterious Prague – Prague of the time of the Knights Templar. You will see where in the Middle Ages there was an irreconcilable battle between good and evil: Christian chivalry and servants of the devil.
According to the chronicles, the first Templars appeared in the Czech Republic during the reign of King Wenceslas I, in 1230, and settled in the Church of St. Lawrence in the Old Town. Here was the cemetery of knights and the first commander on the banks of the Vltava. On Lilova Street, which overlooks the Anenskaya Square, contemporaries of the knights have survived to this day.
After the official dissolution of the Order in 1312, the Templars continued to gather in secret in the basement, where services were often held. One of the secret altars was discovered in a house that was once part of the Prague property of the order and therefore received the name "At the Temple".
You will learn the story of the Knight Templar Berthold from Herzenstein - a faithful adviser to King Wenceslas II, about the heirs of the Ionite Order and the Knights of Malta, about the Church of the Virgin Mary under a chain and about the ghost of the headless Knight Templar, which frightened late passers-by on the streets of Prague.
