Saxony for a day: Dresden and Meissen

Description:

We invite you to a fascinating trip to Saxony!

We will start our journey with the amazingly cute, cozy town of Meissen, which is located northwest of Dresden.

Meissen is famous for its Meissen porcelain, the first porcelain in Europe since 1710. The city appeared in the 12th century on the site of Misnia Castle, founded in 929 by German rulers. In the 15th century, the city became the center of Saxony, where the first palace in Germany appeared - Albrechtsburg Castle in the late Gothic style. But the heyday of the city occurred in the early 18th century, thanks to the king of Saxony - August the Strong, who opened the first manufactory in Meissen for the production of porcelain. We will walk with you in the city center, above which stands the magnificent Gothic castle of Albrechtsburg, where there are collections of porcelain.

Next, we will go to Dresden, home of one of the most striking characters in European history of the 18th century – August the Strong, who turned Dresden into a cultural center and gave a characteristic, baroque appearance.

We will walk with you through the historical part of the city, look at the “pearls” of Dresden – the Frauenkirche Cathedral, the Catholic Court Church, the Semper Opera, at will you can visit the Royal Palace, where the luxurious treasury of Augustus the Strong is located, as well as the Zwinger Palace, which is proud of its famous Dresden art gallery, which collected the heritage of great masters (works by Raphael, Titian, Rembrandt, Rubens, Dur and many others), as well as a wonderful collection of Farfon.
