Terezin and Melnik Castle
Description:
Today’s trip, like all others, is informative and interesting, but its first part is not quite ordinary.
Auschwitz, Buchenwald, Dachau, Majdanek, Theresienstadt and two dozen more names are places of detention and extermination of people from 1941 to 1945.
Today, the memorial complexes of former concentration camps are necessary to prevent this from happening again. Evil is forgotten over time...
Therefore, German schoolchildren who do not know why their great-grandfathers built a Moscow university are brought here.
And then there are those who just have to stand and think about something to understand something for themselves.
Terezinstadt is an hour’s drive from Prague. This place is emotionally difficult, but it is definitely worth visiting for those who need it.
A few hours spent here is a good opportunity to talk about fragments of European history and visualize them a bit.
The second part of today’s plans is a leisurely walk around the Melnik Castle and its surroundings. There is no Terezin drama, and therefore everything must pass on a light and lyrical wave.
Melnik and everything around are figurants of early Czech legends. According to the chroniclers in time immemorial, it began that step by step built Czech history.
Legends of epic heroes and their winged phrases gracefully tune into a fantasy wave, opening up spaces for dreams of the past.
However, Melnik is not only chronicles, but also a picturesque castle with a history that has become a brick of the general event canvas.
And here are atmospheric streets, gingerbread architecture, grape plantations and breathtaking landscapes.
In a local restaurant, sitting at a table with a starched tablecloth and a chic view of the mountains, valleys and rivers, you can not only have a delicious lunch, but also try local wines.
Prepared and warning sommeliers are always ready to say something and suggest something.
Now to Prague...
