Castles of South Bohemia with the final in Cervena Ligot
Description:
Now I will tell you about my excursion from Prague to the south of the Czech Republic.
The purpose of today’s trip is the city of Telc from the UNESCO list, the bombed Jindřihów Hradec and the romantic castle of Cherven Lgot.
These places are familiar to every Czech since childhood. A lot of books have been written about them, a lot of fairy tales have been invented and a lot of films have been shot.
Heifer is a small town that is at least 700 years old.
In the old archival papers it is recorded that by the middle of the XIV century around the local settlement there was already a high wall, and in the castle in the middle lived a feudal lord.
Every old castle must have terrible stories, unsolved secrets and heartbreaking legends.
In this sense, Telch is a quite decent place, and castle guides have something to scare.
However, the main wealth of Telchi is not in pasts and stories, but in beauty, puppetry and gingerbread.
There are many baroque towns in Europe that look like cream cakes. Telch among them is, in my opinion, the undisputed leader of the architectural and biscuit chart.
By the way, in the two thousand-seventh year he deservedly became the winner of the competition “The most fabulous city of the Czech Republic”.
The next item of today’s program is the city of Jindříhów Hradec.
In ancient times, where today stands Jindříhów Hradec, ended the possession of the Czech princes. Then there was a settlement, for the time being served only as a border post.
At the end of the twelfth century, these lands became the feud of the Vitkovtsy family. They turned the village-town into a fortress with a brutal castle.
Thanks to the location on the way from Vienna to Prague, this place began to grow in money and attract attention. Soon the main features of the town were: weaving, brewing and patronage of influential people.
All this by the end of the sixteenth century made Jindříhów Hradec a solid Czech city. And the appearance of Italian architects here contributed to its transformation into one of the architectural raisins of the state scale.
To understand the intricacies of European history, walking inside the baroque dancer - this is the main task of our trip to Jindříhów Hradec.
For the dessert of today’s trip, I have a candy with cherry – and this is Cherven Lgot’s castle, romantically decorating an already beautiful lake.
Appeared in the middle of the fifteenth century, a small Gothic fortification, step by step turned into a beautiful Renaissance castle.
Once Chervena Ligota was only one of the typical nobility cottages, but today it is a tourist magnet, attracting at least a hundred thousand curious pilgrims in the season.
Thanks to the frequent change of owners of Chervena Lgota, the castle guides have something to tell about the many different counts-princes and about different historical vicissitudes.
Well, where stories go back centuries, there are always legends with twisted plots and indelible spots of blood.
There's plenty of this in the Red Light.
Czechoslovak and Soviet filmmakers loved to shoot all sorts of children's fairy tales here.
Yeah, I almost forgot... Places where delicious food and pour fresh beer, will meet on the way.
