Bezdez Castle. "Stone Age" - the harsh Middle Ages

Description:

Do you know how beautiful the Czech Republic is? This country is able to surprise with its unexpected surprises! One of these "surprises" is an unfamiliar to our tourist castle Bezdez.

Bezdez is a medieval stone fortress built on a hard-to-reach top of a high hill, from where you can see views like from an airplane window: yellow and green fields clearly marked with brown road lines. In the distance, blue mountains rise, and literally at the foot of Bezdez - the azure surface of Makhov Lake. The history of the fortress begins a very, very long time ago, in the early Middle Ages, when people all their time occupied mainly by wars. It was a rough time, a vague time. People did not know how they will meet the coming day, from which side to expect the attack, what new tricks the enemy will come up with. In order to protect themselves from enemy attacks, people built fortresses. Stone. Tall. With thick walls and high hills. And today, climbing to the top of the fortress along a narrow rocky path, touching the walls built once by our forefathers, your gut feels their fears, hope for salvation, faith in “thick walls” and God.

The castle has not been restored. Therefore, we will have the opportunity to touch the “living” history, that is, precisely those stones that our distant ancestors wore on their shoulders and from which the impregnable fortress Bezdez was built.
