Sikhrov Castle

Description:

We will make a trip to the reserve "Czech Paradise", a region known for its rich historical heritage. To this day there are many castles and medieval towns.

During the tour we will visit the castle of Sikhrov, unique in many ways. It is one of the youngest castles in the Czech Republic (founded in the 18th century). In 1820, it was bought by the French Duke Carl Rogan, who fled the French Revolution, and for more than 100 years it was the official residence of the family. The fabulous neo-Gothic facade and magnificently preserved interiors with richly decorated carvings make Sikhrov Castle one of the most impressive museums in the Czech Republic.

When visiting the castle, we will see the royal apartments, in which the French king Charles X, the Prussian sovereign William I and the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I actually stayed. Be sure to visit the private chambers of the prince and princess, the owners of the castle: the study, bedroom and bathroom. And at the end of the tour, our main halls are waiting: reception hall, library, game room and a large dining room.

With its beauty, the castle often attracted the attention of film crews. One of the most famous films, which was shot in Sikhrov, is the film-fairy tale “Three nuts for Cinderella”.
