Chekhov bridge
110 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic
Description:
Chekhov Bridge is a unique arched bridge, decorated in the Art Nouveau style. It is named not in honor of the Russian writer A.P. Chekhov, as it should be assumed, but in honor of the famous Czech writer Svyatopolk Cech.
Chekhov Bridge is one of the shortest bridges across the Vtalva River. Its length is 169 meters and width is 16 meters. It was built in 1905-1908 and changed its name several times, but still, as many years ago, the famous Prague trams run across the bridge.
In addition, this bridge has not only a transport function, but also an architectural one. Four bronze statues, carved street lamps and arches are all located on the bridge and are considered historical heritage of Prague.
