Fountain Monument to Writers

Cihelná 2b, Malá Strana, Praha

Description:

A fountain-monument to men writing is installed in the courtyard in front of the house-museum of Franz Kafka. The museum is located on the territory of Malaya Strana, about 50 meters from the Charles Bridge. The museum contains published books of the writer, his diary, letters, photographs, sketches and many other things related to his life.

In front of the museum is an extraordinary sculpture, which is a composition-fountain, made by David Black. Two bronze men stand opposite each other, recuperating in a shallow tank shaped to recreate the borders of the Czech Republic. The author-creator was inspired by a statue of a peeing boy located in Brussels.
