Little country square

Malostransk n mě st 27, 118 00 Praha, Czech Republic

Description:

Malostra Square is a small, cozy square, which is the historical and modern center of the Small Country. It was in this place in the VIII-IX century that the first settlements of the Small Country began to appear. In the distant past, this square was a shopping area, and there was a shameful pillar and gallows. The Malostrovsky square was divided into two parts: upper and lower. Most of the buildings on the square were destroyed during the battles of 1419 and in the fire of 1541. Only in the XVII - XVIII centuries it acquired its modern appearance.

On this small square you can see a large number of beautiful buildings. In the center of the square is the magnificent Cathedral of St. Mikulas, one of the most famous cathedrals of Prague. At the bottom of the square are the Sternberg Palace, the Smirzycki Palace, the Kaiserstein Palace, the Gremlingof Palace, the former Jesuit Craft House (Jesuit Collegium) and the Malostra Town Hall, and in its upper part are the Khartigoff Palace, the Liechtenstein Palace and the plague pillar.
