Municipal Library
Description:
The Municipal Library is a multifunctional cultural center connecting reading rooms, exhibition rooms, a concert hall and bookstores.
The library building was built in 1925-1928 by architect Frantisek Roit, heir to the traditions of Austrian masters.
The building of the municipal library was designed to connect various architectural trends. The building in a bizarre way combines various building materials - marble, brass, facing tuff and travertine, which was characteristic of the Art Deco style. The main entrance and balustrades complement the allegorical sculptures.
The Municipal Library was originally seen as a multifunctional facility that would house workshops, host concerts and host exhibitions. Today the library remains one of the most famous exhibition spaces in Prague.
