Monument to Jaroslav Gashek
Czech Republic, Prague, Zizkov, Prokop Square
Description:
The monument to Jaroslav Hasek, located in Prague, is made in Art Nouveau style. The monument is a hybrid horse with a bar. In the center there is a small pedestal with a bust of the writer himself. The horse is made of bronze, the stele and bust of the writer are made of stone. A huge hole was made inside the horse. According to the original idea, a beer barrel should have been located in this place.
The author of the monument was the famous Czech sculptor Nepras Karel. However, the author did not live three years before its opening. The monument to Yaroslav Hasek was opened in 2005. Its opening felt like a national holiday. During this event, the best Czech choreographic groups performed. On the same day, soldiers fired weapons and sang the national anthem.
By the way, the monument cost the Czech treasury one hundred and forty thousand dollars.
