Žižkov TV Tower

Mahlerovy sady 2699/1, 130 00 Praha 3- i kov, Czech Republic

Description:

The Žižkov TV Tower is the tallest building in Prague with a height of 216 meters. This majestic structure was created by designer David Cherny in the postmodern style, and the facade is decorated with large statues of children crawling around the tower.

The tower was built to improve the broadcast of German television. In full force it began to work in 1990. During the construction of the TV tower, the Jewish cemetery, which was here until 1891, was destroyed. Today, a small part of the cemetery is located north-west of the tower.

The tower has 9 hardware departments, 6 of which are open to tourists. The highest department has an observation deck, from where you can see the whole of Prague with its surroundings. The tower can be reached by metro - to the station Ji ho z Podě brad, then walk to the northeast - such a tower is hard to miss.
