Waldstein Palace
Valdš tejnsk 1, 118 00 Praha 1, Czech Republic 56 mC
Description:
Wallenstein Palace is the largest palace in Prague. Its history begins in 1623, when Generalissimo Albert Waldstein expressed a desire to build a palace whose beauty was to eclipse even the Prague Castle. Construction took six years.
The palace is very big. In order to free up the land for construction, twenty-six mansions, six gardens and a brick factory had to be demolished. Wallenstein Palace was built in the late Renaissance style. One of the curators of the project was a student of Galileo - Giovanni Pieroni.
The interiors of the Wallenstein Palace are not inferior to the royal ones. In the center of the main hall of the palace you can see the image of Waldstein himself - he is depicted in the form of Mars, the god of war.
