The construction of the gate was carried out during the time of Emperor Leopold I, which was reflected in the name of the gate. Near the gate are the ruins of the wall and the Gothic gate of the time of Charles IV. In Vysegrad there is still a Brick Gate, as well as the Tabor Gate, from where the road led to the city.
