Brandis Castle
Okres Praha-vý chod, Brandý s nad Labem, Star Boleslav, Č esk republika
Description:
Brandis Castle, a Renaissance monument, is located east of Prague on a small hill. It was built in the XIII century and is known as the hunting estate of Emperor Rudolf II, under which science and art survived the Golden Age.
The palace was replaced by several owners who rebuilt it, changing the style and its image from Gothic to Renaissance, from Baroque to pseudo-Gothic. The sculptor Quadri worked over the bas-relief decoration of the facade.
The windows of the castle overlook the city of Stara Boleslav, which previously served as the residence of King Wenceslas.
The castle contains exhibits of weapons and cavalry uniforms, as well as valuable books from the Habsburg library.
