Novotn ho l'aacute vka 1, Prague 1

About the company:

Composer Brejikh Smetana Czechs sincerely revered as the founder of Czech music. In his work he actively used national elements and folk motifs. In memory of him, in 1926, a museum named after him was opened.

Today the exposition is in a building built by architect Wigle. The general style of the building is Neo-Renaissance. The facade of the museum is extremely interesting, decorated with painting in the technique of straffite (scratching the upper layer of paint). The painting illustrates the battle with the Swedes on Charles Bridge, which occurred in the seventeenth century.

However, the main value of the museum is a collection of notes, letters, instruments belonging to Smetana during his lifetime. Separately presented a selection of family photos of the composer. In the special music hall of the museum, concerts are often held, where the works of Brejikh Smetana are performed. Visitors to the museum are also given the opportunity to listen to them on stationary players located in the exhibition halls.
