Museum of clocks

About the company:

The one-of-a-kind private clock museum is located in a small house at the foot of the medieval castle Karlstejn near Prague. The founder of the museum is a collector Miroslav Svoboda, whose collection formed the basis of the museum.

About seven hundred exhibits await your attention in the walls of the museum. All of them were collected by Miroslav Svoboda over 27 years of collecting. And, as often happens, his passion began quite by accident: furnishing his apartment, he went to the watch shop and bought walkers. It was the first item in the collection. Today, most of the exhibits are of origin from the "clock" powers - England, France, Switzerland, Germany and Austria-Hungary, which included Czech lands. By the way, Czech watchmakers at one time enjoyed fame throughout Europe. All exhibits are in working condition, but only a few of them constantly go to avoid unnecessary noise.

Visitors will be able to get acquainted here with devices of different types and sizes. These are pocket watches, wrist watches, wall watches, alarm clocks, as well as clocks that were installed in the towers of churches.

There are clocks from castles and walkers from ordinary rural huts. There is also a watchmaker’s workshop with various special tools, which not so long ago were necessary in the manufacture of any watch. The exhibition gives an idea of how the “hour” fashion has changed throughout history.
