About the company:

The Neo-Renaissance museum building was built between 1885 and 1890 by Joseph Schulz. This building is the architectural dominant of Wenceslas Square. Its height is more than 70 meters, the length of the facade is about 100 meters. This is a beautiful monumental building with an expressive dome, decorated with a large number of sculptures. In 1912, a monument to St. Wenceslas by Josef Vaclav Myslbek was erected in front of the building. The museum was established in 1818 during the Czech National Revival. The patron of the museum was Count Kashpar Sternberk. Over the years, the museum was replenished, and in the XX century it grew significantly, divided into several large collections. The building on Wenceslas Square houses the Museum of Natural History and History and the Library. Collections of the Ethnographic Museum, the Museum of Musical Instruments, the Museum named after V. Naprstka and the Museum of Physical Education and Sports are located in other buildings of the museum. In 2011, the central building of the National Museum was closed for renovation, which should last until June 2015. This is the first large-scale reconstruction of the museum.
