Description:
Ten kilometers from the city of Telch there is an ancient castle Rostein. In historical reports, the castle was first mentioned in 1339, when the city and its surroundings passed from King John of Luxembourg to Aldřich of Hradz in exchange for the Banow Castle.
Subsequently, Rostein Castle was rebuilt for a long time. Initially, it was strongly strengthened so that the castle could cope with its main function - protection from invaders. In 1423 the castle bravely withstood the siege. In the middle of the sixteenth century, Rostein Castle underwent reconstruction - its owner Zacharias Hradec wanted to make a hunting castle out of the fortress.
Today, Rostein Castle has all the features inherent in the architectural style of the Renaissance. Above the castle stands a 53-meter tower with an observation deck, which offers a picturesque view.
