Trebon Castle

T eboň II 379 01, T eboň, Č esk republika

Description:

The castle begins its history in the XIII century as a noble estate, and in the XIV century it was bought by representatives of the Rogmberk family. They turned the Gothic castle into a real fortress. A strong fire - a disaster of all medieval cities - in 1562 destroyed almost the whole of Trebon, along with it burned and the fortress. After the fire, a palace was built in its place, the creator of which was clearly influenced by the Italian style in architecture. In 1660, the castle passed into the possession of the Schwarzenberg family, and the new owners made changes to its appearance - it received signs of the Baroque style.

The palace is famous for its wonderful park. Beautiful well-groomed flower beds, a fountain, a sundial, peacocks walking along the alleys - a beautiful frame of the palace building. Today, most of the castle is occupied by the regional state archive, which began in 1602. For inspection, halls with Renaissance interiors and private rooms of Schwarzenberg are open.
