Description:
The Cathedral of St. Stephen is the main cathedral in Litomeržice and at the same time one of the most important cultural monuments of the city. It is located on a hill on the Dome Square.
The church was built in the XVII century to serve as a cathedral for the established diocese in Litomeržice. On the site of construction was an ancient Romanesque basilica, erected in the XI century.
The building of the temple is a baroque church and a nearby bell tower, which was completed in the late XIX century and connected to the main building by a bridge. Inside the temple, the main altar is decorated with candlesticks of the XVII century and an image illustrating the beating of St. Stephen with stones, which was written in the XVII century. Six side altars have a rich decoration.
