Description:

Strekov Castle is a symbol of the city of Usti nad Labem, located in the south of the Czech Republic. The ruins of the castle rise on a rocky hill (about 100 m above sea level) on the right bank of the Elbe. The fortress was founded in the XIV century, and changed several owners. Gothic vaults of the castle attracted poets, composers, artists in search of inspiration.

The romantic setting of the medieval fortress inspired Richard Wagner to write the opera Tangaiser. At the end of the twentieth century, the castle became a refuge of the vampire Dracula during the filming of the film Die Hard Dracula. From the terraces of the castle there is a beautiful view of the Elbe valley.
