The palace park on the island above Ogrzha in Jachimov was founded in the XVI century. The Italian gardens were built on the initiative of Julius Heinrich, Duke of Saxony. There were mixed elements of Renaissance and Baroque. Several fountains, ponds, rich sculptural decor were installed in the park.
By the end of the XVI century, with the change of the owner of the park, the main concept began to change: the park began to turn into lush baroque gardens. By the XIX century, the park was in desolation: the fountains were abandoned, some buildings and sculptures were demolished. At the end of the XX century, the park was restored, most of the territory was renovated. At the main entrance to the park is the chapel of St. John of Nepomuk.
