Heart of Puerto Montta – Tenglo Island and Angelmo Market

This is a sightseeing walking tour, convenient for cruise passengers. First, visit the island of Tenglo, located opposite Puerto Monta, which offers panoramic views of the city and the Andes. Then there’s a walk through the historic Ángelmo craft market, featuring local craftsmen, fresh seafood, and numerous family restaurants offering traditional Chilean cuisine, available only here. On the embankment of the market you can often find sea lions who have chosen this place.

Additionally, you can include a walk along the embankment of Puerto Monta (+4 km to the pedestrian route).

Our tour will begin with a visit to the traditional market of seafood, vegetables and souvenirs - Angelmo.

1. Boat crossing to Tenglo Island:
We get into a passenger motorboat and transfer to the other side of the strait - to the island of Tenglo. Located next to Puerto Monte, this island is an amazing blend of urban life and nature.

2. Walking on the island of Tenglo and the observation deck:
We climb to the top of the island to the monument Cruz de Tenglo (Tenglo Cross), enjoying panoramic views of Puerto Montt. Then we go on a 5-kilometer walk along the paths and streets of the island, watching its quiet rural life.

3. Boat crossing back to Puerto Montt:
We cross the Tenglo Strait from the other side and return to Puerto Montt, where we will have lunch at Angelmo Market.

4. Angelmo Market and traditional dining:
We walk along the shopping arcades, photograph and taste seafood and local products. On the embankment of the market you can often find sea lions who have chosen this place. Then we dine in one of the cafes, where they prepare seafood dishes in the traditional South Chilean style.

5. Craftshops:
Near the market is a street of artisans, where you can choose and buy a variety of souvenirs that will be a reminder of your fascinating journey to this wonderful region of Chile.

6. Optionally - a walk along the embankment of Puerto Monta:
The embankment of the city extends for 2 km. Walking along it, we will see the whole center of Puerto Monte, feel its urban rhythm and enjoy panoramic views of the Ankud Bay, the exit to the Pacific Ocean and the majestic Andes.

A great option for those who have little time in Puerto Monte (one of the cruise ship’s stops), or for those who are already familiar with other attractions in the region (see tours to Osorno and Petroue volcano, Calbuco volcano and Lake Chapo).

Who will like it, and who may not fit
The program is suitable for almost everyone who is ready and able to walk 5-6 km at a leisurely pace within a few hours, with the exception of people over 75 years of age and pregnant women in late stages.

It is convenient for travelers arriving on cruise ships to Puerto Montt for a few hours, as the route passes near the port.
