Lake Buenos Aires

Chile - Argentina

Description:

On the border of Chile and Argentina is a very clear lake with blue water. The sky here can be very bright in clear weather, but the water is always bluer, even azure. General Carrera, as it is called in Chile, in Argentina it is called Buenos Aires, both names are internationally recognized. The average depth of the reservoir is about 150-200 meters, and the deepest depression has a depth of 586 meters. Therefore, the lake is one of the deepest lakes on the planet. It has an area of 1,850 square kilometers.

Lake General Carrera is located at an altitude of 217 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountain ranges of the Andes and has glacial origin. From it flow rivers – Rio Deseado, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean, and Baker, which flows into the Pacific Ocean.

Ozego gathers hundreds of professional fishermen on its shores every year, as several large salmon and trout can be caught here. However, the world popularity of the lake brings a labyrinth of marble caves, located in the middle of General Carrera.
