Petrogue Falls
Chile, Los Lagos, Vicente Perez Rosales National Park
Description:
Petrogue Falls is a waterfall located in the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. The waterfall is located in the upper part of the Petrogue River, which flows from Lake Todos. Massive cascades of the waterfall pour through the lush, volcanic landscape, through the formation of basaltic lava, brought to the surface several centuries ago by the snow volcano Osorno.
The bare dead peak of the volcano is decorated with fantastic waterfalls. The average water flow of Petrogue falls is 270 cubic meters per second, but during the rainy season, when the water level in Lake Todos rises by 3 meters, the water flow is much larger. The water filtered in the lake is usually clear, with a green tint, however, sometimes when the lahars descending from the volcano are active, the water in the falls can be contaminated with sand and silt.
