Diving off the coast of Chile

The underwater world of the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Chile is rich and diverse, as I suggest to those of you who love nature, the ocean and diving. Not far from the central coast of Chile, you will find many representatives of marine fauna and flora hidden from the eyes of those walking along the beaches. Only those who are fond of diving, the infinitely beautiful world of the seabed and the surfaces of coastal cliffs is available. Of course, you should not expect diving in Chile what the Red and Mediterranean Seas, or the Indian Ocean, have to offer: the water temperature is low, which is due to the cold and fast Antarctic Humboldt current. On the Chilean side of South America is a completely peculiar fauna, which you will not find in warm seas. You will find the water temperature from 12 ° C in winter and from 16 ° Happy summer.

Among the marine animals of Chile off the coast of the fifth region in the center of the country you can find both shell and vertebrates - this is a fast barracuda, luxurious moray eel, cat fish, rooster fish, small sharks, sea bass, all sorts of tuna and marlins. These fish move quite quickly and see them underwater – a great luck, while shellfish and shellfish are quite possible to consider slowly. The latter prefer the bottom and large stones, which give them safety and shelter – these are large Chilean mussels, reaching sizes up to 26 centimeters, bright Chilean abalons and other sea snails, royal, blue and hairy crabs, sea scallops, puries, similar to live stones, small Chilean and giant Japanese oysters and octopuses. Of course, bright representatives of the bottom fauna in Chile are echinoderms - diving off the Chilean coast, you can see two species of sea urchins, large sea stars and the sea sun.

A separate type of diving I want to highlight diving near the rookeries of sea lions. In the water, these beautiful and large animals behave friendly, they are very curious and swim close to scuba divers, keenly interested in aliens. Some individuals seem to deliberately play with each other near a group of divers, it is impossible to convey this spectacle to you - it is worth seeing with your own eyes. In addition to the underwater world of Chile - during diving you will get acquainted with seabirds, which are forced to constantly hunt in order to provide food for themselves and their chicks, and therefore will often be near us and a boat in the open ocean. Near the Chilean coast nest Dominican, gray gulls and boobys, Brazilian cormorants, croncocks, white American herons and pilpilenes (birds that feed on bivalve mollusks), small birds tricolor waders, American magpie waders. Of course, it is worth noting the large birds of the local shores - these are white-faced albatrosses and Tagus pelicans (relatives of brown pelicans). For beginners, Chilean diving clubs offer a course of preliminary training, for those who have experience in diving - an increase in the level of their international certificate. Diving here is interesting, I suggest you to include diving in the itinerary of your trip to Chile.

Diving in Chile can be combined with a multi-day tour or with an excursion to the coast, for example, in the Wine Valley, namely in the valleys of Casablanca, Leida and San Antonio, or in Valparaiso, “Behind the rhyme of Pablo Neruda”, or in the Reserve on the ocean.
