Fort Boulienes

Chile, Santiago, Punta Arenas, Fort Boulienes

Description:

Fort Boullénez is one of Chile’s landmarks and military treasures. It is located almost at the most extreme point of the continent of South America, 60 kilometers south of Punta Arenas, on the coast of the Strait of Magellan.

This naval fortification was built in 1843 and was intended to serve as a defense against various invaders. Here you can see well-preserved barracks, fences and other structures, thanks to which there is a special mysterious atmosphere. The fort is located in an open place, because there is always a strong wind, no matter what the weather.

This place is not so popular with tourists due to its unpretentiousness, but still you will not regret if you go there while visiting Punta Arenas.
