Diego Portales Observation Deck
Chile, Valparaiso, Diego Portales Street
Description:
Diego Portales Observation Deck is located in Valparaiso, one of the largest cultural and economic centers of Chile. From the flea market at the bottom, the Fairy Pers, you can climb to the site on the Baron funicular, one of the many city lifts.
The site is named after Diego Portales, one of the key figures in the political life of Chile in the early XIX century. Despite rather contradictory assessments of its activity, the street and some other objects are also named after Portales in Valparaiso.
From the site there is a magnificent view of the western part of the city that stretches on dozens of hills. Not far from the site of Diego Portales is the Church of St. Francis, which is the architectural dominant of the surrounding area.
