San Rafael Laguna National Park

Laguna San Rafael National Park

Description:

The 1.7 million-hectare Laguna San Rafael Ice Park is the most popular place in southern Patagonia. The lagoon is a plexus of fjords, mountain landscapes, floating icebergs. Despite the harsh conditions, the wildlife of the park amazes with its diversity. There are ducks, albatrosses, Magellanic penguins, otters, sea lions, pudu deer.

This park is the birthplace of icebergs. Here you can observe a stunning sight - ice sheets sliding into a neon-blue lagoon. The ice field consists of 19 main glaciers, which have recently undergone significant melting under the influence of high temperatures. But, despite the warming, the ice here will exist for several millennia.
