Treasures and secrets of Ethiopian monks
Description:
The north of Ethiopia is a paradise for lovers of the history of ancient Christianity and mysteries. Here, in the billowing here and there white-red rocks in the V century were carved hundreds of churches, many of which are still active and inhabited by hermit monks. Access to some monasteries is difficult and requires a real adventure: climbing ropes from the skins, a small walk, etc. In gratitude, however, you receive the unique heritage of the Ethiopian church, the smiles of the monks, and a touch with the ancient history of early Christianity.
On this tour we visit the most iconic places for Ethiopian Christianity: Lake Tana, Gondar, Aksum, Lalibelu and Geralta rock monasteries. You will visit the most ancient hermit monasteries of the country, such as Debre Damo and Abuna Yemat, visit the unique temple of the Sabian kingdom of Yeha, go down to the catacombs of the rock-hewn churches of Lalibela and touch the waters of the sacred Lake Tana.
This tour is dedicated to the study of the history of religions, the development of Oriental Christianity and Judaism in Africa, the differences of the Ethiopian church from other faiths, monasticism and anachoretism, and is filled with incredible, strict and captivating landscapes of the mountainous North of Ethiopia.
