Yasuni National Park

Ecuador. 200 kilometers south of Quito.

Description:

Yasuni National Park is Ecuador’s largest conservation area. The total area of the park is about ten thousand square kilometers. This natural zone protects large tracts of tropical rainforest, as well as massifs of dry mountain forest located in the basin of the Kurarai, Rio Tiputini, Yasuni and Nasino rivers.

Yasuni Park represents about sixty percent of all mammals of Ecuador, as well as more than five hundred species of amazing birds. The flora of this park is amazing, because about 470 species of trees grow here on one hectare of land. This figure is a world record.

In 1979, Yasuni National Park was designated as an International Biosphere Reserve.

That is why any anthropogenic activity on the territory of the National Park is prohibited. But if we talk about hiking trails, they pass through the unique wildlife centers of Tiputini and Napo only along certain routes.
